The Ingredient Tree- Wembley (Brunch)

The Ingredient Tree- Herdsmen Parade, Wembley

The Ingredient Tree in Wembley is all about Quality and Fresh food, at very affordable prices.

I was first shown this little neighbourhood gem a couple of weeks ago now and have been back on many occasions not only for their superb coffee and fresh ingredients but also - you can tell that food is not just fuel to them, it is a genuine passion.

They have very cleverly marketed all of the ingredients available for sale in some very scrumptious dishes, encouraging people to try the ingredients and to make them at home... but at these prices, dining in is just as attractive!
  • Service: Keen, professional, friendly- Genuine. Excellent Service, very attentive and the customers leave feeling valued, not only will you get polite and friendly service but the food comes out fast and they are ever vigilant for your needs, ensuring that everything is satisfactory and filling the water as they notice glasses need topping up- extra attention to detail makes all of the difference and these guys have service down pat.
  • Food: Definitely try the coffee along with their amazing scrambled eggs, also treat yourself to one of their delicious macarons- I tried the chocolate Macaron, I am not a big sweet fan, let me tell you: AMAZING, I have no idea how so many textures could be so refined to make such an amazing dessert, I imagine- many, many moons of perfection! There is a definite European/Italian influence and you can see this by the love of food and the care taken to prepare and present it, very high quality.
  • Atmosphere: Well set out, it holds comfortably both the cafe and shop, very clean and organised, chilled out, perfect way to start your day.
  • Demographic: Anybody who is wants to start their day in a nice relaxed atmosphere with good quality coffee and very well priced food, for under $14.00 you can have a coffee AND Scrambled eggs, tell me where in Perth you can find that- and they do not skimp on quality at all in the experience, quality is their main focus and something that is evident in the whole dining experience, will definitely be back again, with friends...

    • Rating: 5/5 ...Perfect on Quality, Location, Serving size, Freshness/Quality, Service- go there and try for yourself.

Coffee- Divine

One of the Tastiest little morsels you'll ever eat!- Macarons.

Wednesday Night $12 Steak @ Wembley Hotel (Dinner)

Wembley Hotel- Cambridge St, Wembley

This Wednesday I ventured out to the Wembley Hotel for their Steak Special- at $12 bucks for reef and beef/surf and turf and whichever other way you want to describe succulent T-Bone Steak drizzled in Prawns &creamy garlic sauce along with a side of either salad or chips- you cant beat this value for money. Drinks are also reasonably priced, centrally located this is an ideal watering hole for some good old fashioned pub grub at 1980's prices, minus the mullets.

  • Service: Fairly fast and uncomplicated, food was delivered in a timely fashion and the staff were friendly and helpful. It wasnt overly packed either - despite their amazing wednesday special, processing times were bang on.
  • Food: It rivals steaks I have paid $30 or more for, 300g T bone steak, side of chips or salad and creamy garlic sauce drizzled on top of the prawns... delicious, tastes twice as good knowing how much money was saved and no skimping on quality- very good value.
  • Atmosphere: Warm, Spacious, loads of room and extra areas both inside and out, the crowd was pretty mellow- no pretentious hype, just a chilled atmosphere in comfortable well maintained surroundings, it was all about a relaxing meal and drink after a long day for most who were there, a nice change of pace.
  • Demographic: Anybody who is wants value for money, GREAT VALUE.
  • Rating: 5/5 for value
Comments:
We also enjoyed the Churros for desert, they were nice for the price.. however far too much sugar and cinnamon, to the point that we felt like we'd been at the beach for all of the sandy granules everywhere. It was nice however and served two for dessert, complimented well by chocolate dipping sauce and fresh strawberries.. for a mere $9.50.

Overall couldnt fault them on venue, location or value- BEST VALUE FOR MONEY ON A WEDNESDAY NIGHT ANYWHERE IN PERTH... That I have discovered so far.

Papa Wok- West Perth (Lunchtime)

Papa Wok- West Perth

If you have had a crazy morning that has left you with a rumbling tummy, look no further than Pap woks West Perth.

Papa Wok's genuine Asian Cuisine is amazing as far as taste, service, Price... and did I mention Taste?

I am more than partial to the Chicken Curry with Rice/Roti Bread, all meals are under $10.00 for gourmet Asian Cuisine, homestyle cooking that hits the spot.

Upon entry you will be greeted by very friendly service- day in and out, unwavering in hospitality, they have also cleverly not tried to over complicate, with a set menu of around 12-15 dishes, they do these dishes and they do them well- to perfection.
  • Service: Unmatched, every single person is warmly welcomed upon entry and attended to immediately, staff go the extra mile to ensure that meals are enjoyed and that the diners are hydrated and happy.
  • Food: Amazing, The BEST chicken curry I have had in Perth, Fresh, Zesty, Flavoursome, satisfying.
  • Atmosphere: For a small restaurant it is well maintained, it is not about ritz and glamour, its all about good service and good food, at great prices- you cannot go wrong with Papa Wok.
  • Demographic: Anybody who is has taste buds!
  • Rating: 4/5
Comments:
Papa Woks does not do any advertising other than word of mouth, and it is usually abundant with hungry punters- that said you will never be waiting for more than 5-10 minutes for freshly cooked, aromatic and flavoursome food.

PAPA WOK's location- Colin St West Peth ( Between) Mayfair and Hay st intersections, on the opposite side of the road to Crema Cafe, down near Caffismo and Akheel.

Highly recommend that you at least give Papa Woks a go- you owe it to your taste buds!

Epic Espresso- West Perth (Coffee/Breakfast)

Epic Espresso- West Perth
The First port of call for any busy persons morning, usually begins with breakfast and for many- a good coffee.
  • Service: Friendly staff and GREAT coffee, complimented by a warm and buzzing atmosphere. The staff pump out the coffees quickly- but with care, always a good drop. They go that extra mile to ensure that you are having an enjoyable coffee experience, not just coffee.
  • Food/Coffee: Very nice, they use beans that aren't over powering and bitter, mild in bitternes, full in flavour and strength.
  • Atmosphere: Well designed and decorated, earthy tones, creating a warm comforting feeling, almost as nice as the coffee itself.
  • Demographic: Anybody who is serious about coffee, would also suit those wishing to impress clients/friends with a fine cafe experience.
  • Rating: 4/5
Comments: Epic are a well run, efficient cafe who value quality and this is shown by their excellent presentation as well as the food and coffee itself, the food is mainly snacking- Muffins, Banana Bread, Cakes- I would highly recommend the Banana Bread... Best in Perth to date. It is usually always very busy in there- thanks to the great service it does not feel like such a wait and they are very quick to get the orders out, unfortunately no phone orders either, everything else- superb.
Try starting your morning with Latte and a Banana Bread from there- a great way to start your day!
